General Weekly Schedule
The schedule is subject to change, due to special guests, or other reasons. This is the typical schedule for our squadron to help plan for uniforms, requesting testing, drill, etc. Please watch for the remind notification for the current schedule and UOD.
NOTE: Remind notifications can also be found on the right hand side of the HCS Announcements Webpage.
1st Monday of the Month
- UOD: PT Uniform - Squadron T-Shirt (Tan or Black shirt) & Black shorts or workout pants
- Bottoms should not be tight or form fitting.
- PT (Physical Training) Testing only (Do not need to request testing, everyone is tested).
- Safety
2nd Monday of the Month
- UOD: ABU's
- Emergency Services, Leadership, Drill
3rd Monday of the Month
- UOD: Dress Blues
- Character Development, Aerospace/Aviation, Drill
- Promotions
- Any promotions completed on Promotion night, will promote in eServices, but will not receive their insignias until the next promotion night.
- Usually at the end of a meeting so parents can join. This is subject to change due to special guests presenting mile stone awards and what their schedule allows.
4th Monday of the Month
- UOD: ABU's
- Emergency Services, Aerospace/STEM, Drill
5th Monday of the Month (when there is one)
- UOD: Varies, See Schedule
- Something fun, generally taken from cadet ideas (May or may not be at the squadron for testing)
HOW DO I PROMOTE?
To promote a cadet must pass the following items. Not all grades have the same requirements, see the below chart to see what is required for each level to promote.
Leadership Interactive Module | After reading Learn to Lead chapter 1, go deeper and challenge your learning in Cadet Interactive. If you don’t have web access, you can ask your squadron to give you an open-book test instead. Are you a high achiever? Go for Honor Credit by doing both the Cadet Interactive module and the open-book test. |
Leadership Test for Honor Credit (optional) | Pass a test in the Learn to Lead modules. Tests must be taken in order and the interactive module must be completed first. |
Drill Test | ▪ During a regular squadron meeting ▪ Must be present to Drill test |
Aerospace Interactive Module | Read any Aerospace Dimensions book, then go deeper and challenge your learning in Cadet Interactive. PT Test (CPFT) | Cadet Physical Fitness Test ▪ 1st Monday of the month, during a regular squadron meeting, unless advised otherwise. ▪ Must be present to PT test ▪ Must achieve HFZ (Healthy Fitness Zone standards) within previous 180 day's. ▪ PT / Fitness Test Waiver ● For temporary or indefinite restriction from PT Testing |
Character Development | ▪ During a regular squadron meeting ▪ Must be present |
Activities | ▪ Participate in CAP activities inside and outside the squadron. ● Outside activities must be completed once a quarter to promote. |
SDA | Staff Duty Analysis Cadet officers and above The purpose of the cadet staff duty analysis program (SDA) is to improve cadets' critical thinking and communication skills through the practical application of leadership.t ▪ HCS SDA Flowchart Tracker. |
Cadet Oath | ▪ Recite the oath for each promotion "I pledge to serve faithfully in the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program and that I will attend meetings regularly, participate actively in unit activities, obey my officers, wear my uniform properly and advance my education and training rapidly to prepare myself to be of service to my community, state and nation." |
Time in Grade | ▪ must be in grade for a minimum of 2 months ▪ Exception, once you complete all testing for Curry award you can promote. |
PRB | ▪ A Promotion Review Board is the final step you must complete for promotion. It is an oral exam that is administered by senior and cadet staff. Additional factors include maturity, achievement, image, and involvement. |
CADET PHYSICAL FITNESS TEST STANDARDS (CPFT)
Presidential Youth Fitness Program - Healthy Fitness Zone (HFZ) Standards
To promote a cadet must meet the following HFZ standards at least once in the past 180 days.
- Cadets in their 1st 3 achievements, must attempt meeting the HFZ and must continue to progress towards the HFZ Standards.
