WHEN: Saturday, December 9, 2023, from 0900 - 1700
WHERE: Palo Alto Airport. Meet at West Valley Flying Club, 1901 Embarcadero Rd Ste 100, Palo Alto, CA 94303
The prerequisite for this Fam&Prep training is:
1) General Emergency Services (GES) rating (CAPT116 test along with Curry for Cadets and Level 1 for Seniors), and
2) A complete 24-hour pack containing all 38 items required in O-0001 of the Ground and Urban Direction Finding Team Task Guide provided here: https://www.gocivilairpatrol.com/media/cms/Ground_Team__UDF_Task_Guide__24_May_CD5DA29E1340B.pdf. You must have all of your own equipment, no sharing allowed.
During the December 9, 2023 Fam & Prep, we will be covering the 11 GTM-3 Fam & Prep SQTR tasks:
O-0001 Prepare Ground Team Individual Equipment (complete ABU uniform or CAP blue field uniform & 24-hour pack)
O-0002 Conduct individual refit
O-0003 Prevent and treat hot weather injuries
O-0004 Prevent and treat cold weather injuries
O-0101 Identify natural hazards
O-0102 Prevent and treat fatigue
O-0103 Conduct field sanitation and hygiene
O-0201 Use a compass
O-0601 Conduct actions if lost
O-0902 Exercise universal precautions
P-0102 Conduct a phone alert
These tasks and evaluation guidelines are located in the Ground & Urban Direction Finding Team Task guide dated 24 May 2004 located at: https://www.gocivilairpatrol.com/media/cms/Ground_Team__UDF_Task_Guide__24_May_CD5DA29E1340B.pdf
The most extensive task is obtaining all the items in the 24-hour pack to complete O-0001 as listed in the guideline above. If you are a backpacker, you probably have most of the items. If not, it would require an investment. You would need all these items by December 9.
